E3 2018: Fallout 76 - 7 Reasons Why It's A Huge Mistake
3. Have The Building Mechanics Improved Enough?
Although it's true that Fallout 4's settlement mechanics were received quite well on the whole (y'know, ignoring the whole Preston Garvey thing), it could've done with some fleshing out.
Gathering resources could be really tedious at times, and while there was a certain fun to be had in setting up defences, guards, and all the rest, raids were infrequent. It made the whole experience feel monotonous and superfluous all in one - especially when your companions got lost trying to find their way home.
With 76, Bethesda are rolling out the introduction of C.A.M.P. - a portable construction device that allows parties to settle at any locale of their choosing. With friends this could potentially be 76's defining feature, but if construction doesn't click right away, then it's easy to see how this could all fall apart.
