8. A New Borderlands 2 DLC

Getting on to the more positive surprises now; Borderlands 2 has received a new DLC. Yep, that game that released in 2012 has some new content.

'Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary' was announced alongside the new trailer for the upcoming Borderlands 3, and was released right then and there, with the DLC bridging the gap between the second and third main games.

The DLC also adds a new weapon tier above legendary, a whole host of new enemies to use them on and even a higher level cap - meaning that those who have exhausted everything Borderlands 2 has to offer will enjoy something new outside of the additional story.

Now, it may not be unprecedented for content to be retroactively added to games, but this particular DLC was definitely a surprise, with nothing Borderlands related being expected to drop prior to the release of the highly anticipated next entry.

The DLC is free though, so if you want to know what's going on in the world of Pandora then you're able to jump into it right now (well, after you finish reading this).
