Being revealed initially in a Kotaku piece last April detailing how members of Mafia 3's development team Hangar 18 were "heading next door" to work on the next Bioshock, quickly it became apparent that more tales of megalomaniacal philosophers are coming at some point.

In terms of a developer, though? We... don't know. All that's been revealed is that it's a new "secret studio", assumedly made up of veterans from other teams to provide the best possible assortment of creatives.

One thing that is clear though: Maestro Ken Levine is nowhere near the project.

It's worth noting that he also sat Bioshock 2 out, and that became a notable under-the-radar fan-favourite, but with Levine creating a new game from scratch with his own specialised team, we have to hope the next Bioshock finally emerges from the brink at E3 2019.
