The easy highlight of Bethesda's conference was their extensive demonstration of Doom Eternal, which is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated and downright awesome-looking games of the remainder of 2019.

And crucially, Bethesda dropped a release date for the shooter - it'll land on November 22, just two weeks after Death Stranding, a week after Pokémon Sword and Shield and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and a mere three days after Shenmue III.

Granted, Pokémon and Shenmue don't present much direct commercial competition, but that's still a mighty heft of AAA games it's staring down.

Honestly, it's surprising Bethesda isn't dropping the game sooner, especially as it appears to be in a highly polished state already.

The extended gameplay footage looked absolutely stunning, serving up more diverse locales than in the 2016 reboot and all the nutty, gory action fans expect.

Also, Bethesda revealed a new asymmetric multiplayer mode, Battlemode, pitting two player-controlled demons against another player who takes command of the Doom Slayer.

There's virtually no chance this game isn't great, right?
