Classically brutal run-and-gun franchise Contra is making a surprise return on the Nintendo Switch, with the release of an entirely new 3D game - Contra Rogue Corps.

Gone is the typical side-scrolling presentation in favour of an isometric view, and the game's tone certainly seems as knowingly absurd as you'd expect - there's even a damn playable, gun-totting panda.

Granted, the graphics look pretty rough, but if it's charming enough, it should still please fans when it drops on September 24. And if that's not enough, Konami also shadow-dropped the Contra Collection, consisting of 10 classic Contra games, directly on the eShop.
