E3 2019: 20 Huge Video Game Announcements You Need To Know
14. From Software & George R.R. Martin's New RPG Is Elden Ring
Though rumours about this unconventional collaboration leaked out literally months ago, it was finally confirmed at Microsoft's presser that Dark Souls devs FromSoftware are working with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin to create a new RPG title, Elden Ring, for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The cinematic trailer played things close to the chest, but emphasised the pairing of two industry titans, Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and Martin.
There are customary severed limbs visible in the trailer and scarce mentions of a damaged ring, but beyond that, concrete context was tough to come by.
Miyazaki later added that Elden Ring will be open-world and therefore his biggest game to date, while also teasing "unique and horrifying" enemies.
No inkling of a release date was given, but FromSoft is incredibly efficient when it comes to turning around quality titles in a speedy timeframe, so if this isn't out by next E3, it'd be pretty damn shocking.
