As was rumoured in recent months, Dark Souls devs FromSoftware are teaming up with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin for a new RPG game, which we now know is called Elden Ring.

The brief cinematic trailer didn't give much away at all, though played up the collaboration between Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and Martin.

Furthermore, the developer's penchant for severed limbs appears to remain very much in tact, while the trailer also made reference to the titular ring being damaged in the past.

Miyazaki later claimed that the game was his largest to date and would be adopting an open-world style, while offering up "unique and horrifying" enemies.

Given FromSoft's habit of turning quality games around with incredible speed, it's unlikely we'll have to wait too long to see some actual gameplay.

No word on a release date yet, but Elden Ring is confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
