E3 2019: 7 Ups & 6 Downs From Microsoft's Conference

2. No Game Pass For Nintendo Switch

Nintendo & Microsoft

After Microsoft and Nintendo teamed up to promote cross-play last year, rumours swirled that an official partnership between the two was in the works, and earlier this year it was even speculated that Microsoft was working to bring Xbox Game Pass to the Nintendo Switch.

Though many rubbished these rumours at the time, word spread on the day of Microsoft's presser that Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto was set to make an appearance, reigniting buzz around some sort of mutually beneficial deal between the two platforms.

Sadly it all turned out to be bunk, as Miyamoto was nowhere to be seen, and Microsoft made no reference at all to Game Pass becoming available on the Switch.

This doesn't mean it's never happening, of course, because being able to stream to the Switch via xCloud is a damn delicious proposition.

But at the same time, Nintendo may not see the value in allowing their customers to stream a service as robust and affordable as Game Pass on their handheld.
