Overall: 90Striking: 88Ground: 93Submissions: 90 Phil Davis probably still believes in his head that he deserves a title shot. Prior to his fight with Anthony Rumble Johnson, Davis was adamant that the next shot at Jones belt shouldnt go the way of Alexander Gustafsson or Daniel Cormier but to himself. He was even calling Jones out at press conferences. Unfortunately for Davis ego, he lost the fight to Johnson, who absolutely dominated him for no less than 3 rounds. While its true that every fighter has a bad day where he just isnt all there, this is not the first time Davis has looked outclassed by an opponent. Despite his record (12-2) not portraying this, the majority of Davis wins have been decisions. His most recent win against Lyoto Machida was also a controversial decision with most people scoring the fight in favour of the Brazilian. Of his twelve wins, only four have come by way of submission which makes the 90 rating in that category is a little confusing. The fact that he has been given an overall rating higher than Rashad Evans (89) who soundly beat him when they fought is even more inexplicable. Davis striking rating may seem modest but anyone who has seen Phil fight knows how clunky, robotic and stiff his striking can be. He may have two KO/TKO wins to his name, but both of these occurred outside the UFC against easier opponents. Suggested Overall Rating: 84
