EA Sports UFC 2: 10 Essential Fixes That Must Be Made
5. Instant Replays
EA Canada did an incredible job recreating the brawlers who make up the UFC roster. At the time of launch the EA Sports UFC character models were considered among the most stunningly authentic of the current generation, and even to day they stand out for their lifelike skin textures and muscle structure. They're beautiful to look at, so you have to wonder why the developers didn't include a proper instant replay feature so that we can examine these beasts in glorious slow motion. The editable, saveable replay system of the more recent Fight Night releases proved a killer feature, perfect for capturing those nose-cracking, brain-damaging knock outs and deadly combinations, so why not implement the same for EA Sports UFC? The highlight reel that plays at the end of each round, and in its entirety at the end of a fight when it's time for the judges to score the bout, does a good job of replicating the television broadcast feel of the UFC, but it's not enough. The unpredictable nature of MMA means that there will be many random moments throughout a match which you'll want to see again and again, not just the three strikes that a programming algorithm has decided were the key moments of the fight.
Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
