EA SPORTS UFC 2: 8 Reasons To Be Excited
4. Brand New KO Mode Offers Quicker Thrills
One of the problems developers face with a medium as in-depth as UFC is that the whole experience could be perceived as daunting. Behind all of the flash, presentation and fighter choice, there's a game that needs to be played. It must be a tough balance finding that sweet spot between simulation and more casual thrills that everybody can sit down and enjoy.
That's exactly why the new KO Mode has been created, it offers up more of a 'pick up and play' element to EA SPORTS UFC 2. This was lacking from the previous game, which required a little more patience and knowledge of how MMA fights play out. This time, the new feature does away with much of the science of fighting, turning bouts into a frenzied festival of punches and kicks.
Grappling, submissions and guard transitions don't have much place in this new mode, which may be good news to those who struggle to lose themselves in countless tutorials or information boxes. Instead, there's much more of an emphasis on attacking, with the winner naturally being the first to splat their rival on the canvas. Instant satisfaction sums KO Mode up nicely.
