EGX 2015: 8 Unexpectedly Good Video Games That Blew Us Away

Picking out the gems from the UK's biggest gaming convention.

EGX (a.k.a Eurogamer) is the biggest gaming convention in the United Kingdom. Developers and publishers come from far and wide to show off their digital wares to a discerning audience of gamers and journalists. From the AAA companies that are showcasing a third or fourth instalment of their biggest franchise, to the little indie studio made up of only two developers clutching tightly to their first alpha build, there is a lot to be said for having a venue where the giants and the little guys can sit side-by-side and compete for attention. Because sometimes, the most exciting things that come out of a new year of games development do not originate from a company with a few billion dollars behind it and a marketing team bigger than the population of London's West End. Rather, from more humble backgrounds, where the smaller audience means that the weird and wonderful is more likely to have its say, in an attempt to make the game stand out of the crowd. There were a fair few games like that at EGX 2015, and this list will take you through the most interesting ones.
