EGX 2015: 8 Unexpectedly Good Video Games That Blew Us Away

8. The Flock

One of the scariest creatures to hit mainstream media were the Weeping Angels from the BBC's Doctor Who. These terrifying creatures could only move when you are not looking at them, and as soon as they touch you, they send you back in time. The Flock by Vogelsap has a very similar concept, and just as frightening. You play as a character known only as the Carrier, whose job is to transport a light source called the Artefact until the game timer runs out. The only thing standing in your way from completing this goal is The Flock - three other beings that are faster than you, stronger than you, and will hunt you down to try and become the Carrier. Shining the Artefact at a member of The Flock will burn them down, but the Flock have the ability to turn to stone when they stop moving, building up a tense situation between which statue is environmental decoration, and which is a beast ready to strike. It's an interesting concept; a glorified version of hide and seek except that three of the players are doing both the hiding and the seeking. The Flock is definitely a game worth looking at, especially as when each member of the crew dies, a countdown timer is activated. After approximately 200,000,000 deaths, the game will no longer be able to be played. Could you overcome before it's too late?
