Elder Scrolls 6: 5 Things We Do Want To See (And 5 We Don't)
1. Don't: Xbox And PC Exclusivity
The process of writing this article was dramatically altered after news broke that Microsoft had acquired ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda studios for the price of $7.5 Billion. Whilst not all details are entirely known yet, this will have a considerable impact on the gaming landscape and could mean a lot for the industry.
So what does this mean for the future of Elder Scrolls? Well, Microsoft may request exclusivity for the franchise. In business terms, this would be a massive win for them. Whilst this is not guaranteed, it does seem logical as why would the company shell out such a large price tag if they didn't plan to get the most they can out of the studio.
Whilst Elder Scrolls won't be the only affected IP, it is one of the biggest names in the gaming industry and to have it localised to specific consoles would be a shame. Playstation and Switch players being left out and not being able to play the game would be a massive disappointment for many. We can hope that this does not happen, as frankly, everyone should be able to play the game. Only time will tell with this one.
