Elder Scrolls Online: 13 Key Tips To Keeping Us All Playing
12. Expand The Map
Skyrim was criticised for the size of its game world: players wanted more areas to explore with more impressive landscapes, more settlements and more importantly, more things to kill. Bethesda should in theory learn from that list of mores, and try to make the map on The Elder Scrolls Online even larger than the previous games in the franchise, which supposedly it already has. Again, Bethesda needs to look at the competition. The World Of Warcraft map is nigh on impossible to fully explore without spending literally weeks of gametime trawling the vast expanses that it has to offer. TESO already has a huge detailed map to play on, but again in future they should begin to open up new areas for players to explore, maybe with a level cap, maybe for specific races or maybe just a new town that can compliment the already-beautiful graphics even more than the others already have done. Their initiative to separate the island into three distinct areas (for the different alliances) has already given players a good incentive to exit their comfort zone and go out and explore the wilderness. Sadly though, knowing the audience that The Elder Scrolls series already harbours, those areas will quickly get explored and will quickly become a boring area to pass through for veteran players, so it would be wise to offer new areas as the game's lifetime progresses to make sure the players just keep coming back.
