Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Simple Fixes That Would Improve Everything

1. No More Wild Goose Chases

Along similar lines to the broken quest issues, Skyrim's story missions also included an unfortunately large amount of problems of their own. The story itself was too simple for some players, but there were a relatively small number of complaints. The crux of the piece was that dragons were returning amid a time of civil war, and it was up to the player to step in as the Dragonborn and solve all of the world's problems. What RPG hero doesn't have as much on their plate? While the simplicity of Skyrim's main story threads was generally a strength, it did mean that there were an unfortunate amount of overly drawn out filler quests along the way. Many of the same missions repeated themselves under different guises and in different locations, but the bare bones were still obvious enough for this not to fool players. The journey from learning they are Dragonborn, through finding out why the dragons were back and onto the final showdown probably could (and should) have taken a mere eight hours and would have been thrilling enough to be substantial. Couple this with the myriad of extra quests and adventures on offer and the game still would have been one of the biggest and best ever made. As it was, however, Bethesda dragged the carcass of the main story across far two many missions, factions and regions to the point were many players would have given up on it altogether. For Elder Scrolls VI, a similarly simple premise will be fine so long as the supporting content takes the bulk of the game's weight instead. Another overstuffed story like Skyrim's could see the next instalment considered a flop, and that is definitely not something anyone will want to see said of an Elder Scrolls game. Now it's your turn; what do you want to see Elder Scrolls VI do to improve on its predecessor? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
