Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Simple Fixes That Would Improve Everything
2. Realistic Mount Mechanics
Being able to traverse Skyrim's icy landscape on horseback certainly makes for an enjoyable alternative to having to fast travel or walk everywhere. The map is so huge that walking is just never a viable option for some of the medium range journeys players have to take, and fast travelling seems a shame given how much of the gorgeous world players end up missing out on seeing. Given just how vivid and alive much of Skyrim's wildlife was, it was nice to have the option to trot along and take in the sights every now and again. This option certainly needs to be maintained in Elder Scrolls VI, but with one minor tweak; let's have the horses move a little more realistically. As the screenshot above quite accurately - and hilariously - depicts, Skyrim's horses don't always behave particularly realistically. Through a little trial and error and a few jerks of the control system, Skyrim's horses could be manoeuvred into some absolutely ridiculous locations in the game and could be used to traverse hills and mountains that were practically vertical in places. Though it would restrict the freedom of players to more realistic levels, and may force them around the foot of a mountain rather than allowing them to bounce over it, this would certainly be to the game's improvement if implemented. It may be fun to hop a horse over a large hill, but it just pulls the player right out of the otherwise dazzling authenticity of much of the game's content.
