The Elder Scrolls VI: 10 Things It Must Learn From Fallout 4
3. That New Game Engine
Fallout 4's in-game E3 demo showed off a huge number of incredible features, but none more immediately striking and comforting that realising Bethesda have completely reworked their core game engine for (assumedly) all their future releases. Right away just the basic fidelity of character movement saw a massive step up, transitional animations looked far more natural and believable - even when the hero was switching between exploration and combat it was flawless. Throw in the increased lighting, weather and texture effects and you get a sense that Bethesda have listened to everything fans have been demanding for quite some time. Come development on TES VI we should see much more of the same - after all, the 'feel' of Skyrim's movement and interaction was very similar to Fallout 3's (albeit minus V.A.T.S), so to save development time refining yet another system that could deal with more vertical elements (like scaling mountainsides, keeps etc.) for Elder Scrolls, it'll be far easier to take F4's and run with it.
