1. Red Dead Redemption 2

The sequel we all wanted, with the story nobody expected, Red Dead Redemption 2 is almost 100% going to delve into the history of John Marston - y'know, the character who was involved in one of the most iconic video game deaths of all time? - fleshing out his days with Dutch's Gang that were only alluded to in the original.

If rumours are correct, we'll actually get to play as all seven characters too, hot-switching between them in the same fashion as GTA V.

Time will tell if Rockstar 'undo' the poignancy of Marston's last stand by sheer virtue of giving him more screen time, but as the teaser was a tantalising look at various new game mechanics and some sumptuous, The Revenant-esque camerawork, there's every chance this could be a far more solemn and impactful look at the West than we've ever seen.

Plus, y'know, it's a Rockstar game, so expect some of the highest production values of any entertainment product in history.
