Every Major Video Game Currently Delayed

The industry in 2020 is looking a little sparse.

Seeing a highly anticipated video game being delayed is a gamer's worst nightmare, as we are all too familiar with the disappointment of being denied playing the latest and greatest title on the market. However as with the case of any other piece of media, delays are commonplace in the video game industry.

Video game developers often delay their upcoming games for many reasons, ranging from Ubisoft deciding to take a year off in 2016 before rebounding back with the much improved Assassin's Creed: Origins, to preparing for cross-generational support at the crossroads between console generations. The most common reason however is that the video game developer simply needs additional time to fine-tune their product before release.

As the current global climate has potentially thrown the launches of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X into disarray as well, there's quite a degree of uncertainty in the video game industry. This has added a further wrinkle into the delays, as physical releases would suffer logistical issues in the short-term.

With all of that in mind, let's explore the current slate of upcoming video games that have been delayed for one reason or another.

7. Iron Man VR

Sony

First announced back in March 2019 as part of Sony Interactive Entertainment's 'State of Play' conference, this new Marvel game was revealed to be an exclusive for Sony's PlayStation VR console.

This title would allow players to truly step inside Tony Stark's Iron Man suit and give them the ability to jet around and save the world. If it can live up to that promise it would be a great coup for Sony's VR system and really capitalize on the Iron Man property as well as improving the profile of VR-only video games.

Unfortunately, this title has been delayed indefinitely by Sony, in part due to current global events making the development difficult. At the time of writing, there has not been a replacement date or even timeframe announced for this game's release.
