Every Mass Effect 2 Loyalty Mission - Ranked
9. Garrus - Eye For An Eye
Eye For An Eye is another mission that's just a little hamstrung by niggling issues. Garrus is an absolutely fantastic squadmate across all three games. Up there with the best, if not the best, ever. But there are bucket loads of missions and interactions that show this off much better than this out of character revenge plot.
Digging deep into the Citadel is definitely a nice touch, and very much in line with what the loyalty missions should be about. Deep exploration. Discovery.
But it fails to truly make the most of it, especially when it's competing with a few other Citadel missions to stand out. Especially as there's a glitch where dying at one of the tougher battle sections lets you immediately skip past it on respawn.
There's also the issue that this feels a little off for Garrus. Even if he has been busy as Archangel while Shepard lay dying. The solution to this, of course, is to use your Paragon prompts at the mission's climax to convince him to change his mind. But then that just makes the whole mission a waste of time. You get Garrus' loyalty, I suppose, but that's about it. Lovely.
