7. Resident Evil 3 (Remake)
With the enormous success of Resident Evil 2 Remake in 2019, Capcom went straight to work on the next one. Recreating the third entry in the series had a lot of potential, most notably for how Nemesis could be upgraded with modern hardware.
Giving it the same treatment as its predecessor, fans were eager to see how it would translate. Hammered out onto store shelves in just over a year, Resident Evil 3 Remake is more of a brief action rollercoaster than the claustrophobic horror we played last year.
As the most recently released Resident Evil title, 3 Remake is going through a somewhat contentious reception from the fanbase right now. While it continues the high bar its predecessor set for presentation and gameplay, the overall design and content has raised some eyebrows.
Some have been disappointed at the removal of player choice and the clock tower section, others feel the game is too linear, robbing Nemesis of his aggressive power. The addition of a lacklustre Resistance multiplayer mode doesn't help either With these issues, Resident Evil 3 Remake, despite being well-made, sits below the game it takes inspiration from. Here's hoping Resident Evil 4 Remake turns out better.
