EVERY Resident Evil Game Ranked Worst To Best

5. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City Nemesis
Capcom

After the calamity of Resident Evil 6's explosion-filled nonsense, Capcom needed a rethink. Taking inspiration from other first-person survival horror games like Amnesia and the cancelled Silent Hills, the studio bestowed gamers with Resident Evil VII: Biohazard in 2017.

Needless to say, it did not disappoint. RE7 brought the franchise kicking and screaming back to its roots, once again proving successful with a new perspective. When playing, it's hard not to think of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as Ethan ventures deep into the swamps of the American South in search of his missing wife Mia.

RE7 boasts easily the most dingy and depressing atmosphere since the Resident Evil Remake and thanks to its VR functionality, players are pulled into the disgusting and trashy residence of the Baker residence more than ever. Arguably it's the Bakers themselves that made the biggest impression, an ordinary family who fell foul of a brutal virus now turned psychotic.

Some of the more memorable moments included having them stalk you around the corridors and the multi-layered boss battles carefully layered throughout the campaign. It's likely that Capcom will continue in this direction for the expected Resident Evil 8; for now though, this seventh entry is another excellent effort from the franchise.
