Contra is one of the great Konami franchises. While, the 2D 'bullet hell' style of game has become a relic of the industry, with the series waning in popularity because of it, most gamers still hold the franchise in high-regard.

Konami is now attempting to give that dormant brand a new polish, but instead of replicating the old formula, it has been reimagined as a top-down four-player co-op experience.

Oh, and you can play as a giant panda with a Gatling gun.

The new spin might infuriate some, but in terms of a big, stupid and weirdly hilarious experiences to play with friends, this looks pretty entertaining.
