Easily overlooked next to the glossy graphics of showstopper Demon's Souls, Astro's Playroom will come packed in with every PS5.

Now, whilst this looks overly simplistic, 2018's Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is widely regarded as one of the best platformers of all time, a total system-justifier for PS VR, and the most overlooked title of the generation, thanks to only being playable in virtual reality.

All of that changes on PS5.

Astro's Playroom is certainly built to show off the DualSense's new features - more on them later - but from everything shown, it's more of the same tight, enjoyable and improvisational platforming that made 2018's iteration so recommendable.

Sony tried to launch with a loveable platforming mascot last generation using Knack, only for that to be a total misfire. Clearly they see the value in the likes of Nintendo capturing a lot of the "cutesy character market" though, and are going in with both barrels.

Here's to Astro finally getting the audience it deserves.
