Evolve: 10 Big Things You Need To Know Before Buying

10. No Single Player Campaign

Evolve is a game designed to be a multiplayer experience. Like Left 4 Dead, it is an asymmetrical multiplayer game that requires cooperation, strategy, and teamwork. Sure, you can technically play offline in the solo mode, but this mode plays exactly the same; the only difference being that bots take control of the absent players. Playing like this only offers a more hollow and lonely version of the game compared to its multiplayer counterpart. Also, don€™t expect it to contain any real or relevant story. A barebones narrative is used to frame the gameplay, providing context to what you are doing, but it is not delved into in any meaningful way. The most you get is a cutscene at the beginning and some banter between characters before and during a hunt. That€™s it. So if you're attracted to games that present you with interesting stories and characters, or are more drawn toward solo experiences, then look elsewhere. Evolve isn€™t interested in being that kind of game; it€™s more about pure gameplay and friendly cooperation. While it€™s certainly nice that solo mode is even offered, it is not enough to sustain the entire game on its own. If multiplayer isn€™t your thing, best not bother with Evolve.
