Fable 4 Officially Announced: 10 Things To Return The Series To Greatness

A standout quest from the Fable series is The Game from Fable 3, in which your hero is shrunk down and turned into the main character in a tabletop Dungeons & Dragons style game narrated by three dim-witted ‘magi’. It’s witty, charming, self-referential and unlike any other quest in the series.

The Fable series suffers from having few truly engaging quests with interesting outcomes and possibilities. Its morality system is traditionally based around “this is a good quest, go save someone” or “this is a bad quest, go kill someone.” The first game at least gives you opposing quest choices based on your morality, and there are some memorable NPCs involved such as Lady Grey and Whisper, but they're few and far between.

There’s very little in terms of actual engagement with the story or choices made along the way. If this system is revamped and made more interesting à la The Witcher 3, this could be a quick fix.
