Fable Xbox Series SX: 10 Things It Can Learn From Yakuza

4. Restaurants Should Be Realistic

Restaurants in Yakuza are yet another way the games teach the player about the world they inhabit. Some, such as the Korean restaurant Kanrai, have been in Kamurocho since the 1980s and that longevity shows in the size and complexity of their menu compared to smaller locations, not to mention their prices.

Other restaurants have, over the course of the series, started to spread beyond their roots and open locations in other cities. Some of those were successful, others not so much. Kiryu can even get to know some of the restaurant and bar owners personally, calling on them to help him out in other ventures.

But it's the food and drink that really shines. Each item heals the characters when they eat as well as providing experience points in several different pools. Thinking about what you're eating and pairing certain things together (from the correct wine pairing to eating all the cake in a place at once) can provide extra bonus experience for living your life in interesting ways.

This experimentation is not just compelling but, crucially, yet another entirely optional way the games allow players to live their lives outside of the storyline.

After hearing that you are what you eat, Mik took a good hard look at his diet and realised he might just be a szechuan spare rib alongside prawn fried rice.
