Fallout 3 Anniversary Edition: 9 Longstanding Issues Bethesda Must Fix

4. VATS Should Be More Challenging

One major criticism aimed at Fallout 3 at the time of release was that VATS was seen as a crutch that boiled combat down to simply pointing and clicking on body parts and watching enemies explode into bloody piles of viscera.

To an extent those criticisms were justified: turning on VATS pretty much made you invulnerable, while ramping up your damage output considerably. Thankfully, future releases tweaked this system to make it more challenging, opening you up to damage and making it less of a catch-all feature.

Consequently, Bethesda could look into implementing this updated version of VATS into the remastered edition of the game, which should go a long way in making the title's combat system feel far more tactical and engaging overall.
