Fallout 4: 10 Big Things That Could Ruin It

10. Any Forced Multiplayer Component

Can you imagine it? Come Bethesda's E3 conference they roll back the digital curtain and the gameplay demo unveiled is... a 'persistent online world where you and your friends can'... zzzz. Elder Scrolls Online didn't work remotely well, as the story of you being 'the one' didn't make for something that applied to a few thousand people also claiming the same fate. So to with Fallout, sure you're one person surviving in the Wasteland as you party up with a number of characters across multiple hours, but they're all fleshed out in meaningful and impactful ways. Despite its open-world nature as of part three onwards, the world of Fallout feels like it has a certain weight and pace to it - something that would be utterly ruined if your average online gaming Joe is leaping about, shooting any civilians and tea-bagging the nearest zombie every few minutes. And that's besides the fact you really can't have a meaningful experience with any immersive, story-driven title if you're chatting or playing with friends. "If Fallout 4 has multiplayer, we riot" has been the phrase across many a forum, and with a hopeful announcement coming soon as many more big-budget releases having multiplayer modes crowbarred in than ever before, it'll be make or break time as soon as anything gets shown.
