Fallout 4: 10 Big Ways Bethesda Have Listened To Fan Complaints

9. Finding Use For Useless Items

One of the worst parts of the previous games in the series was constantly having an inventory that was always full of literally useless junk. Whether you had ten baseball bats or fifteen spare oven parts filling up your backpack, a good percentage of the loot you came across in the franchise will have probably been useless when it came to being able to upgrade your character. Fortunately, with Fallout 4, Bethesda has completely revamped its loot system to make everything you come across in the environment substantial or helpful in some way. All the pointless junk that littered the previous games' post-apocalyptic worlds can now be used to reinforce structures, create weapons or to strengthen a piece of armour. With its just in this new crafting system, Bethesda has already made every single piece of loot in Fallout 4 meaningful. Will you still be over-encumbered by the stupidest things? Probably, but at least you'll be able to use these small items to benefit you in some way now, instead of having to just leave them in a pile of dirt behind you so you can move again.
