Fallout 4: 10 Great Open World Games It Must Learn From

2. Mass Effect

There's another article covering all the ways in which Fallout 4 could learn from the Mass Effect series, but without re-treading too much old ground, it's worth revisiting the positive influence Bioware's magnum opus could have in the future of the series. But don't worry; this doesn't simply amount to the game being set in a post-apocalyptic society comprised of humans in space necking on with blue ladies. One of the greatest strengths of a series like Mass Effect is the way in which it employs such a rich variety of locations in which the action can take place. Mass Effect has it easy of course, because the universe is such a huge place that Bioware truly had carte blanche to play when it came to world-building. But hold on; let's not forget that the world is a pretty varied place too, while the nuclear disaster would have stripped away much of our planet's natural beauty, it would still be interesting to have the game take place over a variety of cities or states, rather than just focusing on the one. Add in Fallout's warring factions and some tense, interstate relationships and the Wastelands of America become a very exciting place.
