Fallout 4: 10 Jaw-Dropping Moments From The E3 2015 Demo
8. Seeing That New Game Engine In Action
The first thing you'll notice upon watching the footage of our hero stepping out the vault, is just how incredible the animation system looks. Bethesda have clearly been hard at work coding an entirely new game engine from the ground up, and you can see its execution in every step. Howard mentioned that the demo was running on the newest hardware (assumedly PC), but just how well this makes the leap to consoles is something we'll have to wait and see. For now though, everything from simply walking forward and seeing the light break through the trees, to switching to V.A.T.S and popping some headshots looks incredible. Howard mentioned it's up to you whether you play in first or third person, and although they're yet to show a cover system (if one exists), the footage of first and third looked far more robust and easy to control than anything the studio has done previously. The nearest comparison is essentially the Metro series in terms of the weight of your gun and how fast you move, but we'll know more once people get some hands-on time.
