Fallout 4: 10 Most Impactful Side-Quests You Need To Find
4. Human Error
There's something that permeates every corner of Fallout 4's world no matter where you go. The Institute - a remnant scientific organisation from before the Great War - has become the Bogeyman of the Commonwealth by the time the Sole Survivor emerges from Vault 111. Their creation of the increasingly advanced Synths has induced a state of paranoia for the remaining population of Boston, with witch hunts and accusations rising proportionate to how easily the fake humans are able to infiltrate human settlements. No other quest in Fallout 4 emphasises this better than Human Error. If you head far south east from Sanctuary, you'll come across Covenant, a quaint little settlement that hides a dark secret. Upon entry, you'll find a mercenary-for-hire by the name of Honest Dan, who's been sent to retrieve his employer's missing daughter after she went missing. Dan swears blind that the residents of Covenant know where she is, but they remain adamant they've never seen one Amelia Stockton. A spot of detective work will eventually reveal that Covenant is actually a front for experiments conducted by Dr. Roslyn Chambers on visitors to the town, that aims to discern whether a person is human or, in fact, a Synth. You're ultimately faced with the decision to free Amelia and kill Chambers to stop the experiments, or leave without a word and let them continue. There's merits to both choices, but which one is the higher moral ground? That's entirely your prerogative.
