3. Hole In The Wall
Vaults are like giant treasure troves begging to be looted. Unopened, they're home to untold amounts of pristine pre-war technology that have remained untouched by time over the last 200 years. Opened, they're still worthy of being stripped clean - you'll just have to fight for the spoils with raiders or monsters. Vault 81 is one of the former types: its entrance tucked away inside a cave on the south west part of the map. Once you've bartered your way past the door, what you'll find is a still fully-functional facility inhabited by descendants of the original Vault Dwellers. However, as any Fallout fan knows, the Vaults were built with a sinister ulterior motive. Each and every one of them exists for the sole purpose of subjecting its population to social, physical and mental experiments. Bizarrely, there seems to be nothing sinister afoot in this one... until you discover that there's a hidden second half to the entire facility. You soon find out the denizens of Vault 81 were intended to be subjected to various contagions, extracted from Mole Rats as a means to develop the ultimate vaccine. Luckily for the civilian half of the Vault, the rats broke free from their cages before experiments even began, and wiped out the scientists. Karma's a b*tch.
