Fallout 4: 10 Things We Can't Wait To See

9. The Reworked V.A.T.S. System

V.A.T.S. is both good and bad in Fallout 3, with the good - blasting limbs off, picking and choosing what's best to target and watching explosions in slow-motion - outweighing the stop-start feel of it and the occasionally cheap sound effects cropping up as you highlighted targets. It made a return in New Vegas, albeit one that shook up the foundations a bit by making you take far more damage, thereby removing the feeling that if you could lock V.A.T.S. in you'd make it out a firefight in one piece. However, do you want to see this mode implemented again in Fallout 4? It's definitely something of a signature feature at this point, and whatever functionality a reworked system has - or if there's something entirely new that lets you pause combat and zoom over the whole field ahead of you, planning moves as you go for example - it's definitely going to be a gameplay highlight both mechanically and most likely visually too.
