Do you play first or third-person? Most likely it's a hybrid of the two, third for wandering around and first for encounters, right? Well regardless, the actual act of playing Fallouts 3 and New Vegas never had the proficiency of either a dedicated first-person shooter or a third-person action adventure. For the most part swinging the camera out back just made it play exactly the same - aside from looking at your avatar awkwardly skate around the floor; and that's something that desperately needs to be fixed. If the option to go third person is in there, then there should be specific animation-changes that account for it, like Skyrim had. Likewise, playing the whole thing in first should have the tactile feel of a 'proper' shooter, with the kickback and weight of every gun feeling unique and the swapping in and out of VATS being instant and responsive.
