Fallout 4: 12 Disturbing Stories & Locations You Totally Missed

1. The Secret Of Dunwich Borers

The Dunwich corporation has been a recurring element over Bethesda's Fallout games, popping up in both the third entry and the title's expansion, Point Lookout. It's no surprise then, that the familiar name cropped up again in Fallout 4. And it's even less of surprise that, considering everything we already know about the mining company, the Dunwich Borers mine would be more than meets the eye.

At first the location just seems like any other quarry occupied by Raiders, however the further you delve into the mine the more apparent it becomes that something otherworldly is afoot. As you make your way through packs of feral ghouls you'll be treated to haunting flashbacks from the quarry's previous tenants, who turn out to be a part of some kind of crazed cult.

The visions themselves are haunting enough, often taking you by surprise and rendering you powerless in the dark of the mine, but the actual mission of the cult is much, much worse. A little exploration and couple of flashbacks later and you can start to piece the story of Dunwich Borers together.

The ghouls you're facing off against were part of a religion dabbling in supernatural forces, using the mine to excavate a potential world-ending being. However you're never given the explanation of who or what this thing was they were looking for, making the haunting imagery you find and the bloody remains of the cultists even more disturbing as you fail to fully understand just what went down in the depths of these mines all those years ago.
