12. Insanity At Listening Post Bravo
At first, Listening Post Bravo appears to be just like every deserted former military location in the Boston Commonwealth. Abandoned and with little loot, initially it doesn't appear that that the listening post has anything of substance to offer. However, if you manage to crack the master lock on the terminal at the far end of the station and power up the elevator, the underground portion of the secretive headquarters holds a rather unnerving story.
Found on a terminal just out of the elevator, a series of memos detail the plight of the lone operator working at the military station shortly before the bombs fell. Isolated and alone for god-knows how long, the character is haunted by a frequency from his radio, hearing a series of threats and haunting phrases through the static. Not only that, but the elevator itself has started to make noises as if someone is trying to break in.
Disturbed, the character records the radio frequency and sends it to his superiors for further investigation. However, the final entry in the terminal reveals that the tape he sent off didn't contain any of the weird mumblings he thought he heard, revealing that the isolation and loneliness had been slowly driving the operator mad. It's a rather unnerving little story hidden in the depths of an otherwise unremarkable location, and the skeleton found in another part of the listening post suggests that it didn't receive a happy ending...
