Fallout 4: 12 Settings That Would Be Better Than Boston

12. New Orleans, Louisiana

Unfortunately, the Fallout series has tended to stay well clear of America's Gulf Coast. Louisiana, with its subtropic climate and rich history would certainly make for an interesting locale, blending the state's unique qualities with the alternative cultural features that the Fallout universe is known for would likely result in a world that is extraordinary and distinctive, while remaining true to the tone of the series. Just as New Vegas saw us exploring the desolate Mojave Wasteland, Fallout 4 could see us trudging through irradiated swamps and dense pine forests in search of shelter. With the colourful city of New Orleans at its core, the Louisiana vision of post-apocalyptic America would at the very least have charisma to fall back on. It's widely referred to as the "most unique" city in North America, with its Spanish and French architectural influences, cross-cultural dimensions and historic landmarks making it a particularly appealing prospect for end of the world exploration. Seeing as the area is scarcely mentioned in Fallout lore, the writers and designers would also be given the opportunity to essentially start from scratch with this world, deciding where the bombs were dropped, who lives there now, and what conflicts drive its narrative.
