Fallout 4: 12 Settings That Would Be Better Than Boston
11. Berlin, Germany
A fallout game outside of the United States would be a brave step for Bethesda to take, but there's a whole irradiated world out there, why stick to just one country? Seeing as the Fallout series follows an alternative historical timeline, diverging from reality shortly after the Second World War, little is known about Germany and the division of Berlin in the post-war period. This of course leaves Bethesda with the irresistible prospect of rewriting European history, and what better playground for such an endeavour than the political battlefield of Berlin? With its East and West divide still potentially in existence, it's a city that offers something new to players, while maintaining a partially American aesthetic that would be in keeping with the series' look and feel. A new area like this essentially gives Bethesda a blank canvas with which to work on, with the freedom to create new factions, characters and narratives, who knows what they'll be able bring to the table? Berlin has a lot to offer as a setting for a Fallout game. With its underground train network, expansive urban sprawl and surrounding rural locales, developers could craft a diverse world that is neither suffocating nor baron. Imagine wandering through the ruins of Berlin, discovering what remains of the Reichstag, sneaking through Berlin Cathedral or crossing an abandoned Checkpoint Charlie.
