Fallout 4: 15 Ultimate Wishlist Features It Must Have
9. New Gun Play
The VATS system in the Fallout games is terrific, and part of the charm is that it reminds you of the old school turn based routes of this great franchise, as well as giving you some incredibly cool kills shots. Watching your last shot take your enemies arm out of its socket it just too cool. Unfortunately outside of VATS mode the guns are not very cool, lacking impact, and frankly lacking finesse in both design and effects. This is especially frustrating as without the VATS system the combat just loses any sense of fun or pay off. Fallout 4 needs to make sure that shooting in all forms is fun and has visual and audio impact. Games like The Last Of Us showed how through animation and sound effects that shooting could be raised to new levels. Bethesda needs to look at games like this as inspiration for future projects. The VATS system doesn't need to be removed - far from it in fact, as doing so completely would be a mistake - but the game needs to be less reliant on it to cover the weaknesses in the games shooting mechanics.
