Fallout 4: 5 Brand New Details You Need To Know About

1. Doom Developers Are Working On The Gunplay

Fallout 3 bravely transcended the divide first-person shooters and role-playing games. But combining RPG elements like dice-rolls and character stats with the realistic, high-octane gameplay of shooting games came with its share of problems, and most players would agree that the gunplay in previous Fallout games felt a bit on the stiff side. Clearly, Bethesda Game Studios was aware of this, so who better to call on to help with gunplay design than Doom developer, id Software? In a recently-published interview from E3, Fallout 4 director Todd Howard revealed that id is helping develop the gunplay side of the game. Howard said: "Since id Software is part of our company, the first thing we did was call them. 'alright, we're going to do this from scratch, give us some tips'." So should we expect double-jumping, chainsawing enemies in half and breakneck-paced combat in Fallout 4, just as we saw in footage of the new Doom game? Not likely, but the improved fluidity of action sequences in Fallout 4 is already apparent in the footage we've seen so far. Also, it'd be fantastic if the game incorporated some kind of Doom 4-style quick UI to improve the process of accessing weapons and inventory items during combat. Whatever ends up being done, a bit of Doom-style fluidity in Fallout's traditionally clunky combat system certainly won't go amiss. Are you still excited for Fallout 4 after this?
