Fallout 4: 7 Mods That Turn It Into A Realistic Survival Game

6. Give And Take More Realistic Damage

Download Realistic Survival DamageDownload No VATS Damage ReductionDownload Locational Damage Mechanically, everything about Fallout 4 has improved upon its predecessors. Gunfights now feel meaty, satisfying and significantly smoother, as you duck between bits of cover, peek your head around corners to take pot-shots at enemies, and don't feel like you have to use VATS all the time to have some sort of control in shootouts. But, in part due to its RPG nature, Fallout 4 still suffers from bullet-sponge syndrome, whereby both you and your enemies can take copious amounts of headshots, legshots and every other kind of shot while barely flinching. The Realistic Survival Damage mod comes into effect when you play on the Survival difficulty, and doubles both the damage you and NPCs take (rather than halving the damage enemies take but doubling the damage you take, as in the vanilla game). It also adds a Legendary Survival difficulty, which adds 'x3' modifiers to all damage dealt. Also, did you realise that if you take a hit while in VATS you currently get gifted a 90% damage reduction? Yep, using Fallout's trademark targeting mode turns you into a veritable superman for a few seconds, and if you don't want this mollycoddling treatment then try No VATS Damage Reduction, which ensures you take full damage while in VATS mode.
