Fallout 4: 8 Games That Should Get Made

7. Fallout: Midwest Resistance

Did you play Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel? I know you did, because I know you're not a jerk, and only jerks didn't play that most amazing combat oriented, turn based, top down action-rpg. Now that we've established that you're not a jerk, let's talk story. Fallout Tactics revolved around the Brotherhood (BoS) trying to extend their military domination outward from Chicago and into the surrounding Midwestern United States. They did so by pressing tribals into their service, exchanging protection for soldiers, and crushing anyone that didn't agree with their point of view. In short, they were not the technologically superior liberators they were seen as in Fallout 3, they were well armed conquerors and borderline fascists. In Fallout Tactics, the player takes on the role of a fresh recruit, recently conscripted from his tribal village. But, an alternate universe in which you play a member of one of the many resistance faction would be extremely fun. The BoS went up against Super Mutants, robots, ghouls, Beast Lords (guys with psychic control over animals), death claws, normal old raiders. We saw enough of the bad side of the BoS in New Vegas to whet my appetite for a full on war with the Brotherhood. And seeing as how we've already established that the area has several cities and towns to fight through, little in the way of concept design would need to be done. Pure and simple, fight back against the over powered enemy to defend your lands. Play as a member of any of the involved races (maybe even one of the genetically altered intelligent deathclaws), and help take the fight to the Brotherhood. Of course, it can never be that simple in a Fallout series game, but the basic principle of ordered fascism versus chaotic freedom leaves a lot of choices to be made, so it might be fun to let the player make his or her choice in the matter. At the very least, it would provide what was lacking from New Vegas, moral choices. The Legion was too "evil", but if the BoS are the bad guys, there's some definite gray area. Of course, the game took place from Chicago to St Louis, which is just too far to be walking, so........I guess the unfortunate player would just have to use a car. Oh wait. That's awesome.
