3. Fallout: Philippines/ Fallout Meets Waterworld
One of the things that tends to be the staple of post-nuclear apocalyptic narratives is a vast and endless desert. OK, it makes sense that large swaths of the United States would be nothing but desert, because a pretty good portion is already just that, and it's not like beautiful forests are going to grow out of the destroyed city streets under the nurturing heat of a nuclear winter. But not everywhere in the world will be the same smoldering pile of ashes that D.C. was in Fallout 3 or my sex life is in everywhere. Some places actually be pretty livable, with the only major changes being technological and social, rather than environmental. Rather than spending hours and hours walking in circles in the wasteland, players could dart around on jet skis, sail boats, and others hopping from island to island, meeting different towns full of folks, and trading goods for the gasoline needed to keep your jet ski afloat. Of course, the larger islands in The Philippines are large enough to support a ton of wandering for those of us who get a kick out of the exploration aspect. But, instead of the same bland deserts in which you can see an enemy approaching a million billion yards away, players could explore dense jungles full of dangerous animals in which anyone could sneak up on you at any time. In other words: a totally different post-apocalyptic experience. Also, in case you still haven't figured out why this would be so awesome......pirates.
