Fallout 4: 8 Whiny ‘Fan’ Complaints That Won’t Be Addressed
4. "There's Too Much Colour Everywhere"
Graphical clout is one thing, but actually designing game worlds that are fun to explore and romp around in is another. As such, Bethesda have totally doubled down on the fact the time period they're aping was positively rammed with over-the-top vibrant colour schemes in every direction. There's definitely more a sense of over-animating the characters within F4, but it's an aesthetic that should pay dividends when coupled with the world itself. After all, there are two things all fans need to remember: 1. The older games were far lighter in tone in F3, had lots of humorous dialogue exchanges and even easter eggs/secrets that brought about years of chuckles (being onset by a herd of cows, anyone?). Bethesda's new graphics engine lets them get ever-closer to that original (dare I say 'fun') take on the apocalypse, whilst also retaining their own signature touch. 2. The world itself has many comic book-style elements that feel far more at home with a graphics engine and robust set of animations to bring them to life. Travelling across the Wasteland you're going to encounter all sorts of different races and character designs, twisted ethereal aesthetics, clothing that wouldn't look amiss in Mad Max - and a general sense of adventure that should propel you to keep going. When taken as a whole, this new approach to Fallout's 'look' is a resoundingly positive one, and even though everything immediately feels far more inviting than before - that's by no means a bad thing.
