Fallout 4: 9 Ways You're Playing It Wrong

5. Don't Underestimate The Point Of Settlements

Although it's easy to take a shot at the settlement feature in Fallout 4 and dismiss it as something that requires far more time and effort than you're willing to give, there's a functional aspect to it all that makes it essential for obtaining the best weapons and getting the most out of your supplies. What you should be doing early on is putting time into some of your major settlements (which ones you decide to be your main bases is entirely down to player preference), setting up supply lines between them and giving travelling salesmen a reason to come to your town. As you start to focus on keeping your settlements healthy and connecting them to one another you'll start to see the fruits of your labour in no time, usually in the manner of high-end gear and the ability to craft pretty much anything you want. You don't have to spend hours designing unique buildings, but a few minutes here and there to make sure your towns are in working order is essential.
