The first Fallout 4 DLC, Automatron, features a new quest involving a horde of robots unleashed into the wasteland by a shady character called the Machinist. Among these will be the much-loved Robobrains - the caterpillar-tracked Dr. Who-style robots with human brains (why is it that their brains are always protected by flimsy glass?). The quest in itself sounds great and wonderful, but what's particularly intriguing here is the fact that as you fight these robots, you'll be able to scavenge their parts to assemble a robot of your own. According to Bethesda, you'll be able to kit it out with "hundreds of mods", customise its colour using a variety of paint jobs, and even give it a voice of your choosing. Judging by the image, your robo-companion also makes a pretty handy pack mule, and can take the form of a formidable Sentry Bot in the vein of the great Captain Ironsides from the USS Constitution. This feature will open up a whole new layer of tinkering and crafting to Fallout 4, and will be perfect for those who appreciate the extra firepower and carrying capacity provided by companions, but don't want to deal with the neediness and emotional baggage that they bring with them.
