Fallout 4 DLC Wishlist: 9 Things Fans Demand

3. Storms & Environmental Variation

Y'know what totally overlooked and ignored game has a secret ingredient? Mad Max - Avalanche Studios' latest featured weather and electrical storms so jaw-dropping and spectacularly breathtaking, your own survival instinct will kick in and force you to seek cover. Seriously, once the game tells you there's one coming, you can see the wave of dust kicking up over the horizon, and when it hits, man, there's a muffled wave that dampens all sound effects, as suddenly you're in the middle of a death-bringing tornado of debris and physicality, genuinely wondering if you're going to make it out alive. Transfer that across to Fallout 4 and yes, you do get the occasional radiation storm that makes great use of Bethesda's new lighting model, but it's nothing by comparison. Down in the lower south-west of the map you can venture into The Glowing Sea, too, which marks a very cool visual change from the rest of the environment, but it's one of the only places to really stand out in this way. Let's see more weather and immersive lighting effects added to really give the wasteland a sense of perilousness, as right now it's just a little too colourful and easy going for its own good.
